Don Bowen has many professional affiliations.... a member of the Water Wonderland Board, Emmett Board of Realtors. The Michigan, and National Association of Realtors, and the Michigan and National Residential Sales Council. Don is also a member of the Indian River Chamber of Commerce.

Don Bowen's professional designations... the GRI designation, which is the Graduate of the Realtors Institute, and the Certified Residential Specialist designation CRS which only 2% of Realtors nationwide hold this prestigious designation. These designations can only be obtained and earned through extensive training, and experience in the real estate business. Don also has the highly recognized Realtor's designation R that is a designation for being a member of the Board of Realtors.

Don Bowen has had extensive training in the real estate business... Don can provide you with the knowledge and experience you should demand in a real estate agent. With over 20 years of real estate experience, Don has completed many real estate courses. Don is a graduate of the College of Real Estate Practice, Real Estate 1031 Exchange course, Realtors Institute, Residential Sales Council, Real Estate Marketing 301, and Advanced Marketing programs. Don has completed the extensive Dale Carneige course, which is a highly recognized professional program that has helped many people nationwide with success in their private, as well as professional lives. True success can not be achieved on education alone, Don has had the opportunity to come into contact with several mentors who have played an important role throughout his career. These mentors who are business people in Indian River played a very active roll in advising Don both personally and professionally throughout his career.

Don Bowen purchased his first single family... home in 1981, where he lived for 7 years, fixing up an old farm East of Indian River. Don learned the art of remodeling working by his father's side. R.L. Bowen & Sons Remodeling which specialized in the reconstruction of older homes. Later in 1987 Bowen sold the home, and traded a remaining 10 acres as a down payment for a duplex in Indian River. This is when the beginning of a whole new career involving real estate started to emerge. Bowen purchased what is now a small ranch and began another project with major renovations. The ranch known as Bowen's Homestead has white board fences, plantations of different trees, and a small pond with irrigation that add scenic beauty to the landscape along M-68 west of Indian River. Don has changed directions in life, and has moved on to a new hobby of kayaking and now lives on the "Infamous Sturgeon River" known for its fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and tubing. Don has just completed yet another total rehab project on a home there, turning an old cottage into a quaint little year-round home. He has purchased many single-family homes, refurbishing and renting them. This has provided a needed service to over 100 families in and around Indian River.

Bowen's first commercial venture... started in 1994 on Main St. where Bowen Plaza is now located. This building has an exterior and sign constructed of log and stone. Yellowbook USA, a Fortune 500 company specializing in Yeloowpage phone book advertising directories thought the entire USA occupies most of the space. BKC Insurance occupied the remainder of the space selling auto, home, and life insurance. As their business grew, purchased a building directly behind Bowen's corner, where they will continue to offer the same services. Tube Fab/Roman Engineering expanded their facility in Afton, Mi. now employing over 200 people in Cheboygan County. Bowen assisted with the sale of a 15,000 square foot building located in Indian River to Michigan Lake products. MLP has over 50 employees, with other locations in Elk Rapids, and Gaylord Michigan. Bowen played an active role in implementing what is now home to the Goldenrod Jewelry store on Main St. in Indian River. Bowen assisted Ginop Sales Inc., a farm/industrial implement co. with over 50 employees, by securing property and a building for their third location in Hillman, Mi. Ginop Sales Inc. also has a store in Williamsburg, Michigan near Traverse City. These are just a few of the businesses Bowen has assisted with over the years.

Mission Statement: "Don believes that the number one thing that people need to remember is to give back to the people, and the community in which you live and do business.

Don believes in giving back and supporting... Don continues to do this by refurbishing commercial buildings and residential homes in and around the Indian River area, leasing these properties out for new businesses to get their start, and by providing homes for people to live in. This has provided a needed service to the people in Northern Michigan. Don has been a proud supporter of the Inland Lakes Educational foundation, a very important foundation set up to allow young adults of the Indian River community an opportunity to attend the college of their dreams. Don has been involved with Duck's Unlimited. Don has also supported a girls softball team that allowed girls an opportunity to enhance their softball abilities. The first year team members came up with the name �Bowen Arrows�. Don has also been affiliated in one way or another over the years with the Burt Lake Christian Church, Community Club, Indian River Dad's Club, Eagles, Jaycees, Kiwanis, Sports Boosters, the P.T.S.O., Indian River, and the Cheboygan area Chamber of Commerce.
